SERVE

HOST A SERVICE PROJECT

At the heart of You Matter Day are meaningful student-designed and led services projects that support our community.

Projects are placed into one of the five themed stations:

  • Education Matters – Education opens doors and every student has the opportunity to help each other succeed. Sample project ideas: prepare school supply kits, literacy packs, or tutoring games.

  • Health Matters – Empower people to make healthy choices and remind them that actively caring for our physical and emotional health matters. Sample project ideas: pack healthy snack bags, assemble hygience kits, or create wellness posters.

  • Innovation Matters – Imagination and innovation shape the future. Sample project ideas: introduce problem-solving prototypes, upcycle andn repurpose materials into something new, or encourage sharing bright ideas.

  • Families Matters – Celebrate the strength, love, and connectiion of family. Sample project ideas: build family activity kits, write thank-you notes to caregivers, or create friendly games.

  • Kindness Matters – Lead acts of care and compassion. Sample project ideas: craft cards for seniors, create kindness rocks, or make kindness pledge cards.

Supplies and materials for your projects will be provided by your program or our You Matter Day organizers. Consider asking for donations from local businesses and organizations. Ex. Have students write donation request letters to local dentist offices to see if they can contribute supplies for hygiene kits for shelters.

Every project helps meet real community needs whether it’s creating care kits for foster youth, designing painted flower pots for senior citizens, or upcycling gently used clothes. Together, these projects weave a powerful story of compassion and community pride.
